I really don’t know where this post will go.

As you might be able to tell, regular vlog-posting has become a fading habit of mine. Thank you Twitter and other social networking entities.

It hasn’t been a fruitful time, writing-wise for me between these posts. I’ve been devoting my time to jobhunting, guitar-playing, among other things. But I’ve also finished reading The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood, so I can finally review it! Though it’s been a while since I finished it, so you may have to bear with me and what I don’t remember.

The structure can be deceiving for those who don’t question uses (or lack thereof) of certain words. You know the ending is sad, but you probably won’t be able to really guess just how sad it is. The writing is addictive, but it’s a good addiction, if there is such a thing.

I guess the one thing that may be going against the book for me is that I think I identify more with Laura than with Iris. Laura’s more of a free spirit while Iris is the big sister with all the responsibility. But this story is from Iris’s point of view, so I may or may not mind seeing a really good fanfiction telling all the events from Laura’s perspective.

I know this isn’t a proper ending, but I think more people should write about arranged or “business-dealing” marriages in which the couple find that they really are in love with each other. But these stories should stress that it’s a really unlikely thing. It’d be something different, you know?
